The Car Camera Voyager Pro has a built-in GPS location logger so you can relive your travels and find out where you made that bad left turn later on Google Earth. Its automatic G-Sensor records 10 seconds before and 30 seconds after a trip. It also features an internal 3D sensor to detect speed, breaking, acceleration, and impact. The cam is a 1.3 megapixel CMOS and the device has SDcard recording with auto-loading software for PCs. Available July 23, it carries the hefty price of $449.95.

Enlarging Windshield

General Motors researchers are working on a new windshield that gives those who have vision problems an easier way to see the road. The glass combines lasers, infrared sensors and a camera to enhance images on the road. The combined technology enlarges objects that are already in the driver’s view. While GM feels that the ideal target for this product would be the aging baby boomers, we are all for anyone who can use it and perhaps save a deer or two.

Jaty GPS Unit

Korea’s Jaty Electronics has released their JTNV-DR7200 GPS with a Sirf3 antenna and is powered by 533MHZ CPU. In addition to being useful in a car or golf cart, it also has a mobile phone charger, an MP3 player, video playback, picture display, and is e-book capable. Available for KRW 296,000 (~$292.00,) if you use it on the 19th hole at your golf course, you can take advantage of its clever drunkometer function to see if you should be driving home.

Leonhardt Gunbus

This is one mother of a bike. Clemens Leonhardt built what he calls the “world’s biggest motorcycle” at 3.47 meters in length and weighing 650 kg. The Leonhardt Gunbus has a 410-cubic inch, air-cooled, two-cylinder V-type engine. The tires, manufactured by Rigdon, are 38 x 11 and 42 x 15-inches. This is no prototype. Leonhardt not only plans to market them, he is working on a side car to go with his monstrosity. Contact the company for price and more details.

Hy-Bird

Yesterday a solar powered golf cart, and today we found that LISA Airlines is developing the Hy-Bird, a 100% electric plane powered by hydrogen and solar electricity. The prototype will contain Trina solar photovoltaic cells on the wing and tail for takeoff. In addition, a fuel cell will assist its cruise flight. An electric engine will keep the plane in the air. LISA is hoping that the the plane will be out by the end of 2009.

The waterproof GPS navigational devices weigh only 6.8 oz., and are good for about 16 hours on two AA batteries with a microSD slot for more input. The 200, 300, 400t, 400c, and 400i models feature their HotFix, which calculates and stores satellite info for position calculation. The Oregon allows customizable profiles of automotive, marine, recreation, fitness, and geocaching. With prices starting at $479.99, Garmin is so jazzed about their new toys that they have set up an Oregon mini-site.

The vehicle’s 160W array offers up to 3 amps per hour on its 48V rechargeable battery. This will equal about 10 rounds of golf before needing another full charge. At a size of 7 3/4 x 3 3/4 x 5 3/4 ft. and a weight of 1,100 lbs., the claim is that that the array extends the life of the battery system by 60% more than other golf carts. You have to really love the game to fork over the $8,999.95 and it would help to live in a sunny climate.

CupolaNASA has announced that the final flight of their shuttles will be May 31, 2010. It will be carrying spare parts for the ISS. One of the flights before that time will be taking up the 1.8 ton Cupola, a European-built structure that gives astronauts a 360º view of space. Going up December 10, 2009, the space agency believes that this will be an incredible outlet for pictures. Once the shuttle has been retired, European and Japanese ATVs and Russian Progress crafts will be doing all the flying. And there will always be the commercial vehicles for taking billionaires into the final frontier.

Now that gas is ridiculously expensive, it might help to own a PLX Kiwi to make your vehicle more fuel efficient. The company claims that you can improve your mpg by up to 33%. The device can be mounted anywhere in your vehicle, and bases your personal “Kiwi score” on smoothness, drag, acceleration, and de-acceleration. The display shows your mpg, trip summary, and causes of engine problems. While it cannot be used with any vehicle earlier than 1996, it will certainly help you not only use less fuel but save the planet by reducing carbon dioxide emissions as well. If you cannot afford the $300.00 price tag, at the very least TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THAT GAS PETAL!

Take a look at Volkswagen’s revamped carbon-fiber microcar that gets over 200 mpg. The VW features two-cylinders, weighs a mere 660 lbs., and seats two. A basic model will include ABS/ESP, a driver’s airbag, a sequential motorbike-style transmission, as well as LED head and tail lights. Don’t look for extras though, as power steering and brakes won’t be available and air conditioning is optional. Set to debut in 2010, the price should be somewhere between $30,000.00 and $40,000.00.
